About Me
I’m a clinical social worker, licensed by the State Board of Social Work in Virginia and Maine. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University and in 1994 earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, with a specialization in Mental Health. Prior to starting my private practice, my work included psychiatric social work and child welfare in Washington, DC, medical social work in Atlanta, Georgia, and school social work in the public school system in Baltimore City.
Experiences throughout my life and career led to my special interests in:
• Military Families
• Cancer
• Aging Issues (including caretaking)
• Loss and Bereavement
As a parent myself, I welcome the opportunity to work with parents to address the challenges that come with raising children and teens, as well as those that come up between parents and adult children.
My training orientation was psychodynamic and family systems-informed and my practice orientation can be described as eclectic since together we’ll decide on your goals for therapy and how best to reach them. Most importantly, I keep a strengths-based approach throughout our work together, continuing to highlight and build on the strengths you bring to the therapeutic process.
My office is located in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington (on the orange, blue, and silver lines at the Rosslyn Metro stop).
